Rosa Maria's

So, the story begins with Jose and Guadalupe Robles, husband and wife.  The foundation for them to be in the food service industry started when they didn’t even realize what a talent they possessed.  Jose worked in the orange groves in Highland for many, many years. Guadalupe would prepare lunch (burritos) for her husband, children and even his co-workers.

After many years of working in the orange groves, they decided they wanted to open their own business.  They were going to open a bakery with another family member. But, as luck would have it, the other family member with the knowledge of how to run a bakery, decided not to join in Joses plans.

But nonetheless, Jose and Lupe persisted with their vision of owning and operating their own business, but with a catch.  The catch was not to open a bakery, but to open a Mexican restaurant.  They would sell what they knew! Lupes famous burritos.  And so, opportunity arose and the original San Bernardino location opened their doors on January 16, 1975.

Rosa Maria’s is now known for their authentic Mexican food.  Hand dipped rellenos, homemade tortillas and the signature garbage burrito are just a few of the reasons for their success.  Other factors include the commitment to the business by the Robles family.  Although the siblings don’t always get along, they manage to always keep the drive alive!  Growing up, all the kids put many work hours into making Rosa Maria’s what it is today.

Another main factor in the success of Rosa Maria’s is you, our loyal customers that we like to consider family.  So many of you have been here with us since opening day.  We appreciate each and every one of you.   We would love to hear any comments or stories you may have to share about Rosa Maria’s.
