Natalie Brooke
Independent singer/songwriter, Natalie Brooke, has been involved in the southern California music scene for the past 5 years, ranging from intimate coffeehouses, to large marketplace venues, and even to the stages of opera. She grew up in a musical family, learning her first guitar chords at age 10 and songwriting by 17. Natalie obtained her music degree from California State University, in 2013, where she engaged in a wide range of music genres, including vocal jazz, choral, electronic and classical music – and even starred in a full-scale opera production of “Hansel und Gretel”. Growth, on a personal level, often only occurs when we are thrust into the unknown. Such was the case for Natalie, when she spent a year working with a missions organization in Vienna, Austria, and was challenged on every possible level: spiritually, politically, socially, artistically, ideologically, linguistically, and relationally. This was the catalyst of a deeper search for truth and authenticity in this world. Her subsequent disappointments and realizations, are reflected in her lyrics. This inspired her to craft a whole new sound. In the summer of 2014, Natalie’s brand new single “The Truth Is” hit digital music retailers (iTunes, Amazon, etc.) and will be followed by an EP in 2015. These tracks not only display Natalie’s songwriting and vocal abilities, but also her skills with acoustic guitar, drums, percussion and she co-produces. Natalie’s explorations and hands-on approach to every facet of creating music have culminated in a rich depth of Indie goodness.
