A Detroit-based sandwich chain called Lefty’s Famous Cheesesteaks, Hoagies & Grill has opened its first California location in the Woodcrest area adjacent to Riverside.
Lefty’s serves a line of 8- and 12-inch hoagies made with rib eye steak or shaved chicken as well as corned beef and Reuben sandwiches. Most sandwiches are $10-$13. The menu also includes hot dogs, burgers and Greek salads.
In addition to fries, sides include fried mushrooms, cheese sticks, and cheese steak or corned beef egg rolls.
Desserts include a Superman-themed cheesecake in red, yellow and blue to match the superhero’s outfit.
The shop’s address is 17040 Van Buren Blvd. in Woodcrest Plaza.
A second shop is planned for 2071 E. Highland Ave., San Bernardino, according to the chain’s website.
Lefty’s was founded in 2012 by entrepreneur Sam Berry, according to its website. It has 32 locations, most in Michigan. Last fall, it announced it would expand in Texas and Southern California in a franchising push, according to a news release.
