One of the most joyous sights to see around the holidays is a home covered in Christmas decorations and bright lights.
For 29 years, the Stott family in Fontana has been serving that joy to their neighbors and this year is no different.
“I started from my kids when they were little,” said Brad Stott. “I just wanted to make it special for them. My mom always made Christmas special for me.”
The display has become a tradition for hundreds of other families who stop by each year and experience the magic of the holiday.
The winter wonderland on the corner of Locust and San Bernardino Avenues brings out people of all ages to see the home’s custom Ferris wheel, train, castle, and Nativity scene.
There is even some snow and place to write and mail a letter to Santa.
“The kids have been coming since we have been doing this for 29 years,” said Gina Stott. “A lot of the kids, the boys and girls from across the street at the school, grew watching us do this. Now, they are bringing their children.”
The Stotts and their three sons, who have families of their own, get together in October to start building the elaborate display.
On the night of Thanksgiving, the lights are officially turned on.
“It is the best house decorated for Christmas,” said resident Mateo Ledesma.
Last year, the Stott’s display was featured on the “Great Christmas Light Fight” on ABC.
Though they didn’t win, the home continues to win the hearts of local residents.
“We do it now because it is a tradition. I don’t know if the community will let us stop doing it actually.”
