Inland Empire Explorer

Are You Ready For This Popular LA Donut Shop IE?

There won’t be a giant replica of a doughnut on the roof when Randy’s Donuts opens in Riverside on Aug. 5. But there will be about 60 types of the real thing inside.

The shop is set to open at 6 a.m. on Aug. 5, according to a Facebook post. It is in Magnolia Crossings, a new shopping center on Van Buren Boulevard next to the 91 Freeway.

It will be the chain’s 12th location in Southern California and its first in the Inland Empire.

The chain got its start in Inglewood; the 1950s-era shop features a 32-foot-tall doughnut on its roof that has been seen in movies and music videos.

In recent years, the chain has grown across Southern California through franchising. The Riverside store is owned by Jay Rajput, who plans to open more Inland locations, according to a press release.

Friday’s opening will be celebrated with live entertainment by a disk jockey and doughnut and merchandise giveaways. In addition, customers between 6 a.m. and noon will receive one free raised glazed doughnut while supplies last. The promotion will continue through Aug. 31 for teachers in pre-school through 12th-grade classes, who can receive a free glazed doughnut by showing school ID, the press release said.

Randy’s Donuts is at 3519 Van Buren Blvd., Suite 101.
