FONTANA, Calif. – (Jan. 4, 2019) – For the first time ever on the NASCAR circuit, Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series drivers will line up five wide during the pace laps prior to the drop of the green flag for the Auto Club 400 on March 17, 2019. The “Five Wide Salute” not only pays homage to Saturday night short tracks, but also celebrates Auto Club Speedway’s signature racing style of flat out and five wide.
Racers saluting their fans is a long-standing tradition and now NASCAR drivers will have the chance to do it in Southern California on the 2-mile oval that is Auto Club Speedway.
“This five wide salute will be an impressive sight and is a nod to both our race fans and the grassroots of the sport,” said Dave Allen, President of Auto Club Speedway. “I grew up going to and racing at dirt tracks, and I am very passionate about the community because at the end of the day, we’re all family. I look forward to seeing everyone’s reaction in the grandstands, infield and along pit road.”
To kick-off the excitement for the upcoming Five Wide Salute experience, Auto Club Speedway has launched a special promotion called the “Five Wide Happy Hour” a five-hour period on the fifth of every month – fans will get $5.00 off any reserved grandstand ticket to the Auto Club 400 NASCAR race.
